Our Past:
FOL was incorporated on July 17, 1979. The FOL Statement of Purpose said, "The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, literary, and education purposes."


Our Future:
Our future depends on current members and new memberships. By joining the Friends, you indicate your support of the Stark County District Library, a vital community resource. Volunteer opportunities are available if you desire.

    Our Present:
    The Friends of the Stark County District Library is a dedicated organization whose mission is to assist and promote the Library through volunteer efforts. FOL is making a difference in our community as we:

    • Underwrite SCDL Library staff in-service day
    • Fund and volunteer for Books for Babies program established by FOL
    • Provide Staff Appreciation Events
    • Honor Volunteers with an Annual Luncheon
    • Present  PERKS, entertaining and informative programs for members and the public
    • Raise money through monthly used book sales, on-going book sales, and our Gift Shop
    • Provide equipment and services outside the library's budget
    • Support "Vote Libraries"
    • ​Sponsor Annual "Evening with Friends"
    • Compile folders and other items for the Spark Program
    • Partner with SCDL in Special Community Events such as sthe Poetry Contests and First Friday Celebgrations
    • Prepare packets for the Heritage Seed Project
    • Assist at Author Events by selling the author's books
    • Grant scholarships to library employees working toward a MLIS degree
    • Provice Tri-County High School Academic Challenge with medals and meals
    • Act as advocates and ambassadors for the Stark County District Library
